Scooter is doing great. we are on postop day 8 now and the swelling is completely gone and he is bearing a little weight on it. The hardest pasrt is keeping him as contained as the vet ordered. He is pretty much determining what he can and cannot do. He's never been a jumper anyway so that's not an issue. He has run just a little here in the house. Vet says I'm supposed to keep him on a leash here in the house for the first two weeks but that's just not happening. He's gotten pretty fed up with the collar though. We got him an inflatable collar from petstore to replace the cone put on by the vet and it's much better than the cone. I highly recommend getting one. Well worth the 30 bucks. He pretty much uses it as a pillow now and it doesn't obstruct his vision like the cone does. We go back next week to get the stitches out. This really has been easier than I thought it was going to be, and I don't usually scare easily because I'm an RN. Probably the most challenging part of the whole process has been getting him to take his medicine. The pain pill was easy but the antibiotic and the antiinflammatory are both liquids and not particularly pallatable.
