Suspected liver problems

Postby Robshorr » Wed May 21, 2014 12:35 am

Please advise:

My wife and I have had Lucy since she was a puppy.
She is now 10 years old. She rather suddenly lost weight and presented with swollen lymph nodes an
Enlarged liver with some ascites and thinning coat. The pathology exam showed some cells but not cancer.
Her blood albumin was low and liver enzymes elevated.

The vet suggested a biopsy but felt she was too weak. He consistently advises hope for best prepare for worst.
He prescribed prednisone and furosemide.

I am a medical researcher (PhD DIC) so I provided Lucy with
Liver cleanse herbs, turmeric and curcumin, digestive aid enzymes, vitamin D and herbal anti-infectives. Dose adjusted or sold formulated for dogs. Her clinical presentation is now normal. Her swollen lymph modes returned to normal within days after the cleanse. She eats well and regained 1 # which is a lot (ie 8% of body weight over 2-3 weeks. She is going to the vet for a liver biopsy tomorrow.

We are of course distressed but know all is in hands of Heaven.

Does anyone have experience or advise in this matter? What to expect?

She loves and knows she is loved.
